Dry Carpet Cleaning – Does It Really Work?

Dry Carpet cleaning sounds like a dream come true. No more squishy carpet when the cleaners are done with it. No more waiting until the carpet is dry before being able to walk on it at all. Your carpet will stay brighter and not show dirt as much with chemical carpet cleaning.

Chem Dry is a company that has built their reputation and business on the premise that chemical carpet cleaning is the better way to go. The theory is the same as in clothes washers. Over an extended period of time your clothes colors will fade with repeated washings whereas dry cleaned clothes will retain their finish and color for longer periods of time.

While the name Chem Dry suggests a completely dry chemical carpet cleaning experience, water is actually used. However, the process is referred to as Hot Carbonation Extraction. Just like Stanley Steemer, Chem Dry offers water damage restoration, business and commercial cleaning services, tile and grout cleaning and the standard residential carpet and upholstery cleaning services. With over twenty five hundred locations around the United States, there is sure to be a local dealer near you.

Chem Dry even offers a variety of tips on its website as a service to its potential customers. There are carpet care tips, oriental rug care tips, leather care tips, spot removal tips (I like this section the best), and a mover’s guide to clean carpets. Many tips are really common sense, but here are the steps for spot removal care. Since spots, drips, accidents and spills are an everyday occurrence, it is nice to know there are some easy steps to help you clean up your problem. If the fabric or carpet has been treated then the job is already easier.

First of all, time is of the essence when dealing with a stain. The faster you get to it, the better as the stain will have less time to dry and set. Make sure you are aware of what kind of stain (oil or water based) and what kind of fabric you are working with. I will give you a chart that suggests a particular type of product to use depending on the type of stain and fabric involved. Chem Dry has a “Professional” Spot Remover and a “Grease and Oil Remover”.

Some of the stains that can be removed by the Professional cleaner are liquor, beer, egg, ammonia, soft drinks, fruit juices, spackle, toothpaste, candy, grass and cheese. Stains that are best removed with the Grease and Oil Remover are hand lotion, oil, asphalt, butter, ointment, crayon, cooking oil, make up, marker, tar and rubber cement.

Try to remove as much of the stain as possible by blotting, scraping or brushing. Do not try to rub as that can spread the stain and set it into the fabric. Always test the fabric or carpet in an area that is not easily visible and rub in the cleaner in a small area.

Wait several minutes and check for any discoloration or color removal on the applicator or cloth you are using for the spot removal. Always start on the outside of the stain and work your way to the middle of the stain to prevent any of the stain migrating out of its original boundary.

If the above steps do not take care of the spot to your satisfaction you can repeat the steps for better results. If the spot still hasn’t been taken care of you will need to call a professional carpet cleaning service to remove the stain.

You will need to let them know what methods and what products you have used on the area you attempted to clean so that they will be able to use the right carpet cleaning products on your problem stain.

A truly dry chemical carpet cleaning series of products is a wonderful item called Capture Carpet Cleaner. Resolve is available at most Do it Yourself stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot. Capture is a deep cleaning powder that you apply to your carpet and vacuum up.

The Capture Total Care Carpet Cleaning Kit is available at Home Depot for $80.84 for a case of six and has the Capture deep cleaning powder, Soil Release Mist and a carpet cleaning brush.

You made a number of fine points there. I did a search on the matter and found the majority of folks will go along with with your hub.
