How to Safely Get Rid of Squirrels
71As much as we might like squirrels, there are times when those cute furry animals can become a major headache. Aside from being cute and fluffy, those little thieves have some major bad habits, of stealing your crops or grain you might have stored at your attic or basement. Another problem that is related to squirrels is that they also might spread some unwanted and dangerous infections, like rabies for example. These factors are serious enough to keep an eye on those “sugar coated” rodents. But are there any efficient ways to get rid of squirrels, if they are making problems at your territory?
There are various ways to confront rodents and squirrels in particular. The amount of modern day devices that are available for pest control had risen immensely in past fifteen years, and numerous types of traps for squirrel capturing were created. Many of those methods are actually safe for the squirrel itself which makes them environmental friendly in first place. Let’s review some methods f how we can get rid of squirrels on our property.
There are methods that have issues attached to it, and methods that require no maintenance at all. Let’s start with the easiest and most efficient.
Electronic sound devices – electronic gadgets that produce a special sound, that is unnoticeable to human or domestic animals, but unbearable for squirrels. Those devices help to drive squirrels away from your territory, without any damage done. They just annoy squirrels with a sound, preventing them from nesting in the area where the tool is installed, and driving them away to a more appropriate place. Those gadgets are rather expensive, but they guarantee a good result in your man vs. squirrel conflict.
Live squirrels traps – traps that captures the rodent alive. They are easy to install and very good at doing their job. You install a trap in areas where you suspect any squirrel movements, place a bait inside the trap (peanuts or peanut butter will do good), and when the squirrel appear for dinner, the trap door shuts down, trapping the little critter inside without any harm done to it. Then you will have to extract captured squirrels away from your household and make sure to drive it far away, to a park or a forest preferably, in order to prevent the little pests from coming back to your property.
There are other ways that are used in resolving the squirrel infestation problem, but those ways are much less efficient, and much more violent to the animals and nature. Those methods are toxic squirrel repellants and squirrel poisons and traps that kill the poor animal in the process. Thos methods are cheap, but tend to bring more trouble than help you solve your problems. Also even if successful, you will have to do a lot of messy work that involves direct contact with the dead critter. So think twice before applying those methods in practice when learning how to get rid of squirrels. It is better to keep it safe and follow our friendly methods, and stay friends with squires all the time. Remember, nature is a part of us. Let us try to become a respectful part of it too.
